How fast is the year going already? Not many weeks to Easter. January flashed by. And the lovely wet season is with us in tropical Townsville
And – if you have not decided what you want to happen in your life this year, you have become fodder in the plans and actions of those of us who have.
And that is fine. It is not bad or good. Providing you are willing to accept your current outcomes in each area of your life. Notice I did not say that you were ‘happy’ – as being happy is a state of mind. And, short of truly testing situations [like being tortured], you can decide to “be happy” regardless.
So – if we take the “be happy” card out of the deck, the next level is think about each important role in your life. You can choose your own important roles.
One might be as a healthy person. In this role – think about what your ‘ideal’ would be. And compare your current situation to that ideal. If there is a huge gap – and it is important to you – then goals and action steps just fall easily into place.
Simply repeat this process for you other important roles. eg as a parent, a partner, a businessman or breadwinner, investor, a family member, and so on.
If you choose not to do this process – that is fine. Unless your environment is not as you want. Choosing not to participate in that instance could indicate you now believe that you don’t have the power to change your self and you world. It makes you a VICTIM.
In general, victims have less fun. And more often are the ones who ‘forget to be remember to be happy’ – and so are not happy.
So – if you have no goals chosen here by February – for a reality check on whether you are doing VICTIM – compare each area of current life with what a score of excellent would look like. And if there is a difference – you have a natural list of goals.
If you stopped right there – and did nothing else – your life would change. A vacuum will have been created, and your mind will be more tuned to what you do want.
So – and this is for those who have resisted creating some goals this year – just do the minimum. Pick just three areas – say Health, Wealth and one major Relationship. Compare what you have with your ideal – create the smallest possible step more than what you are doing now – that would move you toward the ideal a little. And make completion of that teeny weeny step your goal. Do that in each area. Make it so small that it is only just above what you would have done anyway. Eg if you need to do your taxes – just do 5 minutes of receipt sorting each week for 4 weeks. You can do more – but 5 minutes is your goal.
Feel the simple power of actually reaching your goals. If you have gone off goals – it may be because you feel like you set them in the past and ‘failed’. Each time you ‘failed’ it reduced your faith in ‘goal setting’. Until you stopped doing it – and lost much of your mojo.
I am suggesting to set some goals that are so easy you would purposely have to choose to miss them. When you hit them – you feel GOOODD. And you may set another EASY, IMPOSSIBLE TO MISS set of goals.
After a few wins you might decide to get fancy – and set two levels of goals – one called SUPER EASY and the next level up EASY. Eg 10 minutes of receipt filing per week. You may feel so inspired by hitting the SUPER EASY, you flick on up to the EASY.
Just set your goals for one month out. At the end of each month – look at your goals in each of the three areas – and tick them off at whichever level you completed. The just repeat the process and list SUPER EASY and EASY for the next month. You are allowed to smile and feel great – and you now have MOMENTUM supporting you instead of INERTIA holding you prisoner.
I hope I have not made this TOO SIMPLE. Allow yourself to experience this ‘unfailable’ success system.
One definition is success is “Progressive realization of your own, predetermined, worthwhile goals.” No one said we had to make it tough to ‘realize’ them! Make it easy and guarantee your success.
Go to it,
James
Ps Remember to remember to ‘be happy’.
